The whole group met today and we discussed what needed to be done before our Exhibition Proposal Seminar next week. Charlotte and Angelique have been given the task to come up with some initial poster ideas for our next group meeting (Monday 11 Feb), while Ali and Jenna will be in charge of writing up our ideas into the proposal itself (which cannot be done until after next Monday's meeting. I am to continue making minutes for each meeting to ensure everyone is up to date with information. I also need to make a timeline/ schedule for the course of this module which outlines meeting dates as well as deadlines for each task. Becky needs to get written permission for the exhibition space we want (dark space under stairs) so we have dates to work with for the installation of our exhibition. Rachael and Mason are in charge of advertising and so will be thinking of the wheres whens and hows of how to advertise our exhibition.
We have decided to call the exhibition 'Restriction : Limitations for the Individual in Society' (though for a time we did deliberate on Skeletons in the Closet) and discussed our own views on the meaning of restriction. We realised, while everyone can interpret it in their own way, that an interesting route to go down would be to look at ideas/ things shunned/not accepted/ frowned upon by society. Artworks created from this stimulus would go well in the space we found and we discussed how the environment allows optimum control over the use of lighting.
We discussed the possibility of our posters being in black and white, and have arranged for Charlotte and Angelique to feed back ideas so that we can decide as a group what we think works best. We discussed the possibility of using small flyers but Mason and Rachael are going to continue to develop this idea.
For next week we all need to have a clearer idea of what we want to create as individual pieces of work for the exhibition and bring these ideas with us.
